Freedom in Crisis: A YouTube Conversation
It’s been a minute since we dropped a blog post! We’ll get into that some more at the end of this post.
Unless you’re living somewhere truly remote, you are probably experiencing and feeling the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This epidemic has affected everyone – from losing loved ones; to experiencing the pain of having the virus; to losing income; and dealing with one’s workload while trying to do life with your kids at home, amongst other things.
The reality is that we find ourselves in a crisis where crisis is defined as, “a time of intense difficulty or danger.” You may feel right now as though you are in danger: of losing your health, your income, your relationships, your support system, your sanity, your peace and so many other things. We feel you sis.
And so, as a team we have been praying for and thinking about our tribe and the entire world in this season of uncertainty and pain. But we didn’t want to stop there. We wanted to offer encouragement and words of life that will lead you to a state of freedom even in the crisis you find yourself in.
We had the honour of sitting with Aline Umutoni, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide against the Tutsis. This phenomenal woman faced a crisis of her own when at 5 years of age, she witnessed her father being literally chopped to death before her very own eyes, and then running for her life until she found safety in Uganda.
On more than one occasion Aline’s life was in danger and she would have been killed too, but God! She went through harrowing experiences including witnessing people being murdered and; unknowingly living with one of the men that killed her father for 3 years. We know!!
Yet, when you listen to her speak today, she exudes such peace and genuine joy! She is filled with the Spirit of God and can give perspective to those struggling with their current painful circumstances without judgement. Don’t take our word for it though – we want to invite you to listen in on this powerful conversation we had with her at the below link:
We hope this sheds some light in your life in this difficult season. And if you know anyone who needs the encouragement, we hope you can share this with them. We’d like to leave you with this wonderful passage of scripture as well:
“16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are[a] being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
So, as we said we have been scarce here because we’ve been working on building useful visual content via our YouTube channel. That is where most of our energies will flow, but you can still expect to get a blog post from us once in a while
