Meet The bAw Team

Our team is made up of goofy, intellectual, creative and tender-hearted women who are passionate about defending the cause of Christ and Africa at the same time.

Take a moment to find out more about them below.

Mpumi Meet Team

Mpumi (aka Lelo) is our Graphics Magician! She has mastered the art of capturing the bAw spirit and putting it into a visually appealing format (kinda like these graphics introducing our team).

Here’s a little more about her:

Fave ScripturePsalm 139

Fave black African woman – I think this is seasonal, depending on where I am in my life. Currently, my fave is Cynthia Erivo. She encapsulates strength and humility; she rises above every challenge; she is excellent in all she does and she is very much relatable.

Pet Peeve – Untidiness

If she was a hashtag – #YOLO

Rumbi Meet Team

Rumbi (aka Rumbi-Rumbi-Rumbi/Wumbi) handles our social media accounts and presence online.  She has a discerning eye and her pulse on current trends to make sure that bAw remains relevant and appealing to our tribe.

Here’s a little more about her:

Fave Scripture – “Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:30-31

Fave black African woman – Zimbabwean filmmaker and author, Tsitsi Dangarembga because of her ability to express shared experiences in a relatable, gripping way. Her talent in sharing our African stories is admirable and so necessary.

Pet PeevePetty Labelle Version: Bad breath; dirty bathrooms & kitchens. Real Talk: People who thrive on making others feel less than, being inconsiderate of others’ feelings.

Lari Meet Team

Larissa (aka Lari/Rissa/Rissacles) knows like everyone :’D. Not only that – she has a brilliantly analytical mind that effortlessly puts information together. This is why she handles the creation of content for our blog and YouTube channel.

Here’s a little more about her:

Fave Scripture – “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Fave black African womanIsha Sesay who is a Sierra Leonan American journalist and worked for a long time for CNN. She has recently done a lot of work on the continent, and released a book on the Chibok girls who were kidnapped by Boko Haram. I love that she is intentional about the world getting an accurate on-the-ground picture of what’s happening on the continent.

Pet Peeve – Waiting. I’m really impatient and structured, so I plan everything to the last minute. Pray for me y’all!

Sonia Meet Team

Sonia (aka Sonia Dee/Soni) is the lady who carries the bAw vision close to her heart, and seeks to serve and guide the team in fulfilling it.

Here’s a little more about her:

Fave Scripture – “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6

Fave black African woman – Helen Folasade Adu aka Sade because she is deeply creative and authentic. She uses her gift to bless the world and those around her, living a purposeful life.

Pet Peeve – Hair all over the bathroom (sink, floor, shower etc). It’s gross.
